The wooded Manzano Mountains southeast of
  Albuquerque, New Mexico
provide an appropriate home and stimulating atmosphere for Nancy to express
her passion for nature and animals through her detailed and thought provoking
  colored pencil drawings.
After earning a Bachelor of Fine
  Art from New Mexico
  State University
, the artist spent several years as a jewelry designer before
making the transition to drawing and painting professionally
  .  Recently she has
returned to creating jewelry in addition to creating her colored pencil images.

Although wildlife is her primary subject matter
, Nancy is also recognized for
her expressive portrayals of domestic animals including dogs, cats and horses
  to name a few
. She has spent over 40 years participating with  her
Great Pyrenees in  conformation and obedience competition and several years
ago  competed in  Draft Dog competitions. She credits these experiences with
training her eye to recognize proper proportion and  developing insight into
understanding animal behavior which she utililizes to bring out the inner
spirit of each animal she portrays. Her work with her Great Pyrenees as
  a
Therapy Dog has enhanced her ability to express the special relationships
she has witnessed between humans and dogs.
  Through her art, Nancy seeks
to share her view that every living creature deserves respect and each has a
powerful lesson for all those willing to learn.

Nancy is a Signature Member of the Colored Pencil Society of
  America.
She has earned numerous awards for her art during  the  30+ years she has
been creating her art but what is most important to her is the unique
opportunity she has to capture the endless ways that animals express
themselves and how they play such an important role in our lives, both
  physically and symbolically.

       Over the years a
number of her images have been  available as notecards
  distributed by Leanin’
  T
  ree of Boulder
, CO.  Her originals and prints are part of
numerous permanent and private collections throughout the
  US and
  internationally: including
Australia, Switzerland, Japan and Germany to
  name a few
  .
